BECAUSE IN NORMANDY, WE SURF TOO!

Surfing has its origins in board sports,, and the surf breaks along the Calvados coastline thanks to the waves at Trouville. Of course, they are not big breakers but, if you are not afraid of the channel water they are still great waves to have fun with.

There are 4 surf schools in Normandy, including one in Trouville-sur-Mer! North Shore Surf Schoolis located on the beach in Trouville-sur-Mer and offers the opportunity to learn or improve your surfing skills .

How is that possible ?

You can surf in Trouville-sur-Mer! But what is ?

Well, this is due to the location of Trouville and its beach. The beaches in Calvados generally face northwards, but the beach at Trouville-sur-Mer faces more towards the north-west. To get a wave, you need a swell. Trouville is affected by a north-westerly swell which passes across the tip of the Cotentin peninsula.

The second reason is that the resort is located between the mouths of two rivers: the Seine and the Touques. This creates current and gives the beach at Trouville its shape.
