Trouville-sur-Mer inspired Flaubert throughout his life and works. The City could not therefore miss the opportunity to pay tribute to one of the most famous writers of French literature.

To commemorate the bicentenary of his birth, the City of Trouville-sur-Mer as well as all the Normandy region organized a Flaubert year, from spring 2021 to spring 2022.

To desacralize this author of the XNUMXth century, the municipality wanted to remove Gustave Flaubert from libraries and museums to arouse the desire to find him there. Thus, dozens of quotes go out to meet Trouvillais, secondary residents and tourists, through the city. Along the Promenade Savignac or the Quai Fernand Moureaux, on the benches of Square Flaubert, and in many places in town, the author's quotes, sometimes humorous, sometimes sarcastic or poetic, punctuate our journeys with their deliciously chosen words.

EXHIBITION

To mark the bicentenary of the birth of Gustave Flaubert (1821-1880), 200 quotations from the writer are installed throughout the year in the four corners of the city: along the promenade Savignac or the quai Fernand Moureaux, on the benches of Square Flaubert, and in many places in town, the author's quotes, sometimes humorous, sometimes sarcastic or poetic, will punctuate our walks with their deliciously chosen words...
