Shore fishing, the short version

Boots on their feet and bucket in hand, shellfish gathering remains a very Trouville way to stroll along the foreshore. Fish, crustaceans, shellfish: each species has its minimum size and quota, within the limit of personal consumption.
A new departmental decree, applicable since the 1ster July 2026, has changed certain opening dates and certain quotas — particularly for the bouquet and the scallop. Shellfish harvesting remains permanently prohibited between Honfleur and the Trouville Hennequeville Nautical Club, for sanitary reasons.
Sizes and quotas vary by species: it's best to have them in hand before you set off. You can find them in detail on our regulations page, along with useful contact information (fisheries office, maritime services).
A question about a particular area or species? The national reference site and the Calvados prefecture usefully complement the information.
