Chateau and Gardens of Boutemont

Remarkable gardens and a historic castle.
An avenue of cedars runs imposingly towards the postern and the drawbridge of the castle where on either side of the gravelled walk, box and yew hedges meet in perfect symmetry. Halfway along, two hundred-year-old cedars unfold. In the gardens of the Château de Boutemont, topiary art is at the service of the buildings, magnified by the size and shape of the plants. Hornbeam cones punctuate the castle's moat, a grassy path lined with boxwood benches, yew cylinders topped with half-balls, all punctuated with terracotta Medici vases, leads the eye to a corner turret of the castle . Ribbons of beech in a Florentine pattern frame the water mirror designed by the landscaper Achille Duchêne, where the residence is reflected.
Discover the 5 gardens in green rooms: The Italian garden, the white garden, the Zen garden, the ginkgo garden and the purple garden and the Italian garden as well as the garden of love and the waves of bushes...
In the park, climb the feudal motte, walk in the alley of apple trees with flowers or in the alley of red oaks.
"L'Orangerie" the creperie/tea room, in bloom, welcomes visitors in the orangery and the greenhouse and on their flowering terraces from May to September.
A boutique bookstore ticket office welcomes visitors to the gardens and the castle.
Open interiors: dressing room, neo-Gothic lounge, gallery, chapel.
