Below are the tide times, calculated directly by SHOM (Navy Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service). Because, yes, even the tides need a timetable!

THE PHENOMENON OF THE TIDES

Here in Trouville-sur-Mer, we have a passionate relationship with the sea. It moves twice a day, displacing fishing boats and reshaping our landscapes with the ebb and flow of its waters. In Normandy, the sea comes and goes twice a day, with a slight 50-minute time difference.

The high tides take place at the time of the full and the new moon, when the moon and the sun are in alignment with the earth.

At low tide, the beach stretches as far as the eye can see, and you might even see buried treasures... or just a few mussels and shells. However, at high tide, the waters dare to approach the dock as if to say, "Hello, I'm back!"

Their amplitude can reach 10 meters during the spring and autumn equinoxes. Now that's not some serious power!

THE COEFFICIENTS

And for those who don't want to be surprised by an unexpected wave, here's the secret to tidal coefficients. This scale, which ranges from 20 (neap tide, the most timid) to 120 (spring tide at the equinox, the most exuberant), allows professionals and amateurs alike to predict the strength of the tide. Because it's better to know what the sea level is before taking the plunge, right?
