From today, July 1, 2025, Trouville-sur-Mer can breathe easier: the beach becomes 100% tobacco-free… and 0% cigarette butts in the sand!

Smoking is now prohibited on our beautiful beach, in accordance with a national decree which aims to protect young people and improve the quality of life in public spaces.

A measure for health… and clean sand

This ban isn't just a breath of fresh air for the lungs: it's also a powerful gesture to preserve the beauty of our coastline. This ban means: more safety for children, fewer cigarette butts in the sand, less pollution for the sea, and more comfort for everyone.

And if you miss the gesture…

...swap it for vanilla ice cream, a crispy waffle, or a deep breath of salty air. After all, Trouville-sur-Mer is also about taking your time. And for the most motivated, it might be the perfect opportunity to say goodbye to cigarettes for good. A pleasant setting, fresh air, a summer for a change: what more could you ask for?

Healthier public spaces for all

This ban doesn't just apply to our beach. Starting July 1st, other public places will also become smoke-free during their opening hours:

  • Public parks and gardens,
  • Beaches by the sea for swimming (like ours!),
  • Bus shelters and covered waiting areas,
  • The surroundings of schools and places welcoming minors,
  • The surroundings of libraries, swimming pools, stadiums and sports facilities.

Together, let's blow a wind of freedom (without smoke)

We're counting on everyone's civic-mindedness and kindness—residents, vacationers, sand lovers, and sunbathers—to respect this new rule. Because in Trouville-sur-Mer, we share beauty and goodness. And breathing fresh air on a clean beach is definitely both.
