The August 02 2024

By the Théâtre de l’Imprévu

The dramatized reading retraces the exceptional destiny of Emil Zatopek, Czechoslovakian long-distance runner, national and international icon, Olympic champion in London and Helsinki and world record holder on numerous occasions, nicknamed “the human locomotive”. Jean Echenoz recounts, without emphasis, the extraordinary life and exploits of his hero. He paints the portrait of a touching, inevitably fascinating man. The story unfolds in a rhythmic manner, with its slow motions, its accelerated motions, reminiscent of the rhythm of a race...

Éric Cénat, actor and director, directs the Théâtre de l'Imprévu which he founded in 1986 in Orléans, with a clear artistic approach: Memory and story / Memory and song. He has been the artistic director of Frankoscény (International French-speaking high school theater festival) in Pardubice in the Czech Republic for 15 years.

According to Courir by Jean Echenoz. Conception and interpretation: Éric Cénat.
