Exposition « Du côté de Trouville-sur-Mer » – Mikaël Lewi
Monday May 19 at 09:00 a.m.
Hôtel de Ville 164 Boulevard Fernand Moureaux 14360 TROUVILLE-SUR-MER
Trouville-sur-Mer-sur-Mer in the early morning, emptied of all human presence, bathed in a soft light... It is this singular atmosphere that the painter Mikaël Lewi explores in his exhibition "Du côté de Trouville", to be discovered at the Town Hall from May 5 to June 13, 2025.
A graduate of the Angers School of Fine Arts, Mikaël Lewi, born in Paris in 1985, has frequented the town of Trouville-sur-Mer since childhood. Here, he offers an intimate and poetic vision, somewhere between personal homage and literary evocation. Flaubert and Proust, invisible but omnipresent silhouettes, silently haunt these solitary landscapes.
Through a series of works produced between 2018 and 2024, the artist works on a unique format – the famous raisin format (50×65) – and plays with flat areas of bold colors and stylized contours, in a resolutely modern style. Neither a faithful reproduction nor a postcard landscape, his views of Trouville-sur-Mer rather evoke the world of old travel posters: those that made us dream of elsewhere… or rediscover nearby.
An exhibition not to be missed for lovers of art, literature and this eternal Trouville-sur-Mer which is redesigned with every glance.
Opening of the town hall:
– Monday, Wednesday & Friday: 9am-12pm / 13:30pm-17pm
– Tuesday & Thursday: 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m. / 13:30 p.m.-17 p.m.
Free access.
